“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” -James 1:27
Kingdom Families began in 2014 as a program under the non-profit Global-Effect Ministries. Kingdom Families was birthed out of a desire for a best practice, gospel-driven orphan ministry to take root in Tanzania. The reality for orphans in Tanzania is dire; children live on the streets, die of exposure or live their entire childhood in an institution. Kingdom Families is not satisfied with these realities. We are not satisfied with children growing up outside of families.
Our theology is that it’s the responsibility of the local church to attend to the needs of their own society. Therefore, Kingdom Families focuses on empowering and facilitating the local Tanzanian church to care for orphans, to engage their communities and welcome kids into their own families. There are no other organized ministries in Kilimanjaro seeking these explicitly family-based solutions for orphaned and abandoned children.
Kingdom Families has three branches of ministry: Advocacy/Training, Family-Based Services and Adoption Support. It is our desire to see the church inspired and empowered as they pursue God’s best for the children in their own country. Follow any of the links to hear about each individually.
Communicating the message of adoption and orphan care and discipling the church in this ministry.
Promoting kids to be in families through family preservation, reunification and foster care and adoption.
Helping facilitate local adoptions and standing with the parents before, during and after the adoption process.
