Empower Women and Support Families This Christmas

The number one reason children end up in orphanages is poverty…

Earlier this year, we got a referral from one of the pastors in our Kingdom Families network in Moshi, Tanzania. There was a woman from their neighborhood that had been taking care of her two nieces and her own daughter with no real support. She was bawling in the church office and completely at her wit’s end. We began looking for ways that we could partner with the church to find real solutions for this vulnerable family.

A woman from the church was running a sewing business on site and we all agreed a sewing apprenticeship would be the right fit. Kingdom Families then sponsored her two month training. When we saw the skill of the women, we decided to give them some business and commissioned them to make pillow covers. We purchased the materials locally and the head seamstress set their own production prices. In October, we brought the pillow covers over to the states and have had amazing sales the last couple months as we raise support for the ministry. A few of the designs are still available for purchase and would be a gift that gives back this Christmas.

Empowerment

Collaborating with Melissa Stiver of Kingdom Families, the team came up with five different designs using materials bought from local textile designers and second hand markets.

Restoration

From tears to smiles, we’re grateful for the opportunity to come alongside and help vulnerable women and see families and communities strengthened.
